Job Title

Principal Product Engineer

Role Summary

Drive product engineering for the Genus Synthesis Solution to improve Power, Performance & Area (PPA) and interoperability with place-and-route flows. Work with R&D to define product roadmap, verify feature correctness, run experiments, and produce product requirement specifications.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting indicates a preference for candidates with industry experience (preferred: MS + 2+ years); the role expects proven experience in digital implementation, synthesis, and timing closure.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and verifying synthesis features, bridging synthesis and place-and-route, and supporting customers and internal field teams.

  • Perform product engineering for Genus synthesis to achieve best-in-class PPA for digital ASICs.
  • Understand internal flows for new features, verify correctness, and run experiments to determine optimal solutions.
  • Solve problems in physical-aware synthesis to bridge the gap between synthesis and place-and-route.
  • Support field engineers and customers as first-line interface between R&D and users.
  • Verify interoperability of Genus with other digital implementation tools to enable seamless flows.
  • Gather requirements from internal and external customers and document Product Requirement Specifications (PRS).

Requirements

Required technical skills and competencies; preferred items listed as nice-to-have.

  • Must-have: Strong logic design and timing-closure skills for block- and top-level designs.
  • Proven experience in digital implementation, synthesis, physical design, and timing closure.
  • Automation and scripting skills (Perl, Tcl, shell) to develop flows and debug issues.
  • Familiarity with HDL (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Strong analysis and debugging skills; ability to perform root-cause analysis and recommend solutions to customers and R&D.
  • Customer-facing support experience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with Genus and Innovus, formal verification, low-power design techniques, and work on advanced foundry nodes (28nm, 20nm or below).

Education Requirements

Preferred: MS in Electrical Engineering or ECE with focus on VLSI plus two or more years of relevant industrial experience (as stated in the posting).
