Principal Product Applications Engineer (Connectivity Products Group)

Role Summary

Provide hardware applications engineering for Qualcomm's Connectivity Products Group, focusing on next-generation datacenter interconnect solutions. Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical customer engagement, product validation, documentation, and design support.

  • Drive technical communication with customers from project kickoff through production ramp; coordinate with internal R&D and cross-functional teams.
  • Author and maintain Data Sheets, Product Briefs, User Guides and Application Notes.
  • Design and support evaluation boards and reference design kits representative of customer applications.
  • Validate product performance in representative applications and test setups.
  • Diagnose, debug, and resolve hardware and firmware issues during bring-up and validation of customer designs.
  • Partner with technical experts at optical transceiver vendors to integrate technology into transceiver modules.
  • Provide customer-facing support collaterals and technical enablement to exceed customer expectations.
  • Occasional travel as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant experience (examples: board-level design, optical module design, or applications engineering).
  • Domain knowledge of high-speed interconnects and technologies, including DSPs and/or optics for PAM4 and/or coherent transmission.
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting firmware and hardware issues involving high-speed DSPs, optical components, optoelectronic components, and optical modules.
  • Proven ability to validate product performance in representative applications and to support customers through integration and production ramp.
  • Strong technical communication skills and experience producing technical documentation for customers.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer engagements and validation activities.

Education Requirements

Qualifications include a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
