Principal Product Application Engineer (SiC)
Role Summary
Develop and validate SiC-based power solutions and translate device capabilities into customer-facing systems. Support product introduction, customer design-ins and global collaboration with engineering teams, partners and universities.
Experience Level
Senior — 5+ years in the semiconductor industry with a focus on power applications; wide-bandgap (SiC/GaN) experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include system design, validation and customer engagement for SiC power products:
- Design power-electronics platforms and power modules using SiC technology.
- Plan, run and analyze system-level testing and validation in high-voltage lab environments.
- Build demo systems and deliver technical presentations, trainings and webinars to customers.
- Support product go-to-market activities and customer design-in processes.
- Perform device testing, characterization and modelling; provide application-driven product feedback.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners and academic partners.
- Contribute to thermal/mechanical design, gate-driving strategies and inductance optimization for converters.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years in the semiconductor industry with a focus on power applications (SiC/GaN/IGBT).
- Hands-on hardware design experience for SiC, GaN and IGBT applications, including power modules and PCB design.
- Experience with measurements, simulation tools, testing methodologies and high-voltage lab work.
- Knowledge of thermal and mechanical design, gate drivers and inductance optimization.
- Ability to connect device physics, converter design and customer requirements.
- Strong communication skills in English; German is a plus.
- Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to travel occasionally.
Education Requirements
M.Sc. (Master of Science) degree or higher in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field.
