Job Title

Principal PCIe Subsystem Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Lead verification engineer responsible for subsystem-level verification of high-speed I/O (PCIe and CXL) within SoC designs. Work with architects, RTL designers, and verification teams across multiple locations to define verification strategies and validate functionality and performance.

Focus areas include integration verification, interoperability with Arm and third-party IP, performance analysis, and improving verification methodologies and infrastructure.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting indicates an expectation of more than 5 years of verification experience; the role requires demonstrated expertise in PCIe/CXL subsystem verification and leadership of verification efforts.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Define subsystem verification strategy and craft detailed test plans for PCIe/CXL integration and performance verification.
  • Develop and maintain SystemVerilog/Verilog/UVM testbenches, transactors, and tests; run simulation and emulation platforms.
  • Debug verification failures, analyze root causes, and drive fixes with design teams.
  • Verify IO virtualization scenarios, SMMU integration, interrupt controller interactions, and interoperability with third-party IP.
  • Improve verification methodologies, coverage metrics, and sign-off criteria.
  • Collaborate with architects, microarchitecture teams, and project management on schedules and deliverables; mentor and support junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of verification experience with complex PCIe or CXL subsystems or SoCs.
  • Strong understanding of digital hardware design and Verilog HDL.
  • Experience in PCIe/CXL feature verification and performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with SMMU and interrupt controller integration with PCIe.
  • Experience with PCIe & CXL IPs, emulation-friendly transactors, simulation and emulation platforms.
  • Proficient in UVM-based verification and coverage-driven methodologies; experience creating test plans and tracking verification sign-off.
  • Debugging experience using hardware and software debuggers; knowledge of formal methods is a plus.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Arm-based designs or Arm system architectures.
  • Clock-domain crossing and power-aware verification experience.
  • Scripting with Python, Perl, or similar languages; familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
