Principal NPI Product Engineer
Role Summary
Senior product engineering leader responsible for defining enterprise product engineering strategy, governance, and operational frameworks to improve manufacturing yield and quality across semiconductor product lines. Leads global new-product introduction (NPI), technology transfers, and transformational initiatives while advising executive leadership.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires 12+ years of progressive semiconductor product engineering experience and 5+ years of executive management experience.
Responsibilities
Lead strategic, operational, and organizational activities to ensure product manufacturing readiness, yield, and quality across global operations.
- Define enterprise product engineering vision, governance frameworks, and long-range roadmaps.
- Advise executive leadership and represent product engineering in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Design and implement yield management, performance optimization, and quality excellence programs.
- Lead new product introduction, technology transfers, ramp strategies, and readiness assessments.
- Drive transformation initiatives including advanced analytics and AI-enabled yield platforms.
- Build and develop global product engineering organizations; implement succession planning and leadership development.
- Manage cross-functional responses to major technology transitions and enterprise challenges.
- Travel internationally to manufacturing operations, design centers, and customer sites (approximately 25–40%).
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership capabilities required to perform the role; preferred qualifications listed when applicable.
- Extensive semiconductor product engineering leadership with enterprise-level responsibility.
- Proven expertise in yield management, quality systems, and performance benchmarking.
- Practical experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes, test methodologies, and reliability engineering.
- Track record leading enterprise transformation programs and implementing advanced analytics or yield-management platforms.
- Executive presence with ability to influence C-suite leaders and lead large, distributed teams.
- Strong change-management skills and demonstrated success delivering complex, global initiatives.
- International experience coordinating product engineering across multiple regions (preferred).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field is required. Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
