Principal Network Simulation Engineer 12VLSI

Role Summary

Develop and maintain system-level simulation models and motifs for NICs, switches and future system architectures to evaluate performance, scalability and fault tolerance. Build tooling for performance analysis and visualization and provide data-driven guidance for architecture, ASIC and software design decisions.

This role works cross-functionally with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers to validate and optimize proposed designs.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests 10+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and implement simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
• Create simulation motifs and workloads to produce realistic network scenarios.
• Develop tools for performance analysis, data collection, and visualization.
• Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance; analyze architectural trade-offs.
• Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable and maintainable simulations.
• Collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineering teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
• Proficiency in C++ for simulation modeling and Python for analysis and tooling.
• Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
• Proven track record building reliable simulation frameworks and performance tools.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with NIC/switch design, ASIC development workflows, or datacenter network protocols.
• Experience with visualization libraries or performance dashboards.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
