Job Title

Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI

Role Summary

Develop and run high‑fidelity simulations of network components and system architectures (NICs, switches, interconnects) to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Work on simulation infrastructure, analysis tooling, and visualization to inform architecture and ASIC design decisions.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 10+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver simulation models, scenarios, and analysis that validate and compare proposed network and system architectures.

  • Develop simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
  • Design and implement simulation motifs to drive realistic network scenarios.
  • Create tools for performance analysis and visualization of results.
  • Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable and efficient simulation outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineering teams.

Requirements

Key technical and interpersonal qualifications.

  • Must-have: Strong proficiency in C++ for simulation/modeling and Python for analysis and tooling.
  • Must-have: Deep understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
  • Must-have: Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs, optimization strategies, and performance/scalability testing.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical results.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with NIC, switch, or ASIC/VLSI design flows and simulation frameworks.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience building visualization or performance-analysis tooling and dashboards.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience leading technical projects or mentoring other engineers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
