Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI

Role Summary

Lead development of system-level and network simulation models for NICs, switches and future system architectures. Build simulation scenarios and tooling to evaluate performance, scalability and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.

Work closely with network architects, ASIC designers and software engineers to inform architecture decisions through quantitative simulation and analysis.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building models, running experiments, and communicating results:

• Design and implement simulation models for NICs, switches and system architectures.
• Create simulation motifs and realistic network scenarios to exercise architectures.
• Develop tools for performance analysis, visualization and reporting.
• Evaluate performance, scalability and fault tolerance; analyze architectural trade-offs.
• Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable simulations.
• Collaborate with architects, ASIC designers and software teams; document findings.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• 10+ years of experience in system- or network-level simulation, architecture analysis, or equivalent roles.
• Proficiency in C++ for simulation modeling and Python for analysis and tooling.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, system-level design and architectural trade-offs.
• Experience producing performance visualizations and quantitative reports.
• Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams and communicate technical results.

Nice-to-have: ASIC/ASIC-design collaboration experience, large-scale network simulation frameworks, advanced visualization tooling.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
