Role Summary

Design and implement system-level network simulation models and motifs for NICs, switches, and future architectures to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Build analysis and visualization tools and collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software teams to inform architectural trade-offs.

Experience Level

Senior — Principal level. Typical candidate has 10+ years of relevant experience in network/system simulation or architecture.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on creating realistic simulations and tooling to validate and optimize networked hardware and system designs.

• Develop and validate simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
• Design and implement simulation motifs to reproduce realistic network scenarios and workloads.
• Create tools for performance analysis, visualization, and results reporting.
• Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
• Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable simulation code.
• Collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers to drive architecture decisions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

• 10+ years of professional experience in network or system simulation, architecture, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
• Proficiency in simulation/modeling in C++ and data analysis in Python.
• Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
• Track record of building performance analysis and visualization tools.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical results.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices for testing, CI, and reproducible experiments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
