Job Title

Principal Network Simulation Engineer β€” VLSI

Role Summary

Lead development of system-level network and VLSI simulation models to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance for NICs, switches, and future system architectures. Inform architectural decisions through validated simulation results.

This is a remote senior technical role focused on simulation, modeling, and performance analysis within a cross-functional engineering team.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 10+ years of relevant experience in network/system simulation, architectural analysis, or related fields.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building and using simulation frameworks to validate network and system designs.

  • Develop simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
  • Design and implement simulation scenarios and motifs that reflect realistic network workloads.
  • Create tools for performance analysis, visualization, and result automation.
  • Evaluate performance, scalability, latency, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to maintain reliable, reproducible simulations.
  • Collaborate with network architects, ASIC/VLSI designers, and software teams to translate requirements into models and interpret results.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
  • Proven experience in simulation modeling using C++.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and scripting with Python.
  • Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
  • Track record of working effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Ability to produce performance visualizations and diagnostics.
  • Excellent software engineering practices: version control, testing, and reproducibility.

Nice-to-have: familiarity with ASIC/VLSI design, distributed simulation frameworks, or advanced visualization tooling.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
