Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI
Role Summary
Design and implement system-level simulation models and analysis tools to evaluate NICs, switches, and future network/system architectures. Use simulation results to guide architectural trade-offs for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
This role partners with network architects, ASIC designers, and software teams to validate designs and inform product decisions.
Experience Level
Senior / Principal level. The posting requests 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
- Design and implement realistic simulation motifs and network scenarios.
- Create tools for performance analysis, visualization, and result interpretation.
- Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable simulations.
- Collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers to guide design decisions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years of professional experience in network/system simulation or related fields.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
- Proficiency in C++ for simulation modeling and Python for analysis and tooling.
- Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with NICs, switches, ASIC/SoC design flows, and performance visualization tools.
- Knowledge of scalability and fault-tolerance analysis methods.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
