Job Title

Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI

Role Summary

Lead development of system- and network-level simulation models and analysis tools to evaluate NICs, switches, and future system architectures. Work with cross-functional teams (network architects, ASIC designers, software) to validate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed designs.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires substantial experience; posting specifies 10+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
  • Design and implement simulation motifs that drive realistic network scenarios.
  • Create tools for performance analysis and visualization of simulation results.
  • Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable and efficient simulations.
  • Collaborate closely with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers to inform architecture and implementation trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience in network/system simulation or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
  • Proficiency in simulation/modeling using C++ and data analysis using Python.
  • Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical results.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with VLSI/ASIC design workflows or close collaboration with ASIC teams.
  • Experience building performance visualization tools or large-scale simulation frameworks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience. (Degrees explicitly listed in the source: Bachelor's, Master's or PHD in Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering or equivalent.)
