Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Analog DevicesJob Title
Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development of high-speed mixed-signal converter cores (ADCs/DACs) within the Advanced Cores Group. Drive transistor-level circuit design, select architectures, and coordinate across layout, evaluation, and test teams to deliver SoC-ready IP.
Work focuses on high-performance data converters used in automotive, aerospace, communications, and instrumentation applications.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal) - requires substantial senior experience; the posting specifies 14+ years of CMOS design experience.
Responsibilities
The role leads technical direction and execution for converter designs and mentors others.
- Lead circuit development and evaluate/select converter architectures.
- Design complex transistor-level circuits for high-speed ADCs and DACs.
- Produce clear design documentation and lead design reviews.
- Coordinate and guide layout, evaluation, and test engineering teams.
- Mentor and develop other design engineers.
- Interact with system and signal-processing engineers to support calibration and modeling.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
- 14+ years of CMOS design experience (senior/principal level leadership).
- Proven experience in high-speed data converter design (pipeline ADC, SAR ADC, current-steering DAC).
- Deep knowledge of circuits: wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, precision voltage/current references, LDOs.
- Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
- Experience with behavioral modeling using MATLAB.
- Signal-processing knowledge, especially calibration algorithms, is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design reviews and work effectively in large, cross-functional teams; strong written and verbal communication.
Education Requirements
M.S. or beyond in Electrical Engineering (the posting specifies a master's degree or higher).
