Job Title
Principal Mixed-signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
As a technical authority in mixed-signal integrated circuit design, you will lead architecture and technology decisions and drive complex projects from concept to production. The role requires integrating analog and digital domains, mentoring engineers, and influencing product and technology roadmaps.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10β15 years post-master's experience or 8+ years post-PhD in industry-scale mixed-signal IC design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this principal engineering role.
- Define architecture and make design trade-offs for complex mixed-signal ICs balancing performance, power, area, and time-to-market.
- Lead end-to-end mixed-signal projects and coordinate cross-functional teams without formal managerial authority.
- Drive integration of analog and digital IP and ensure robust performance across operating conditions and process variation.
- Develop and establish advanced mixed-signal design methodologies and comprehensive verification strategies.
- Provide authoritative technical guidance to resolve multi-domain design issues and optimize noise, timing, and power.
- Guide physical implementation and layout teams to meet stringent performance requirements.
- Mentor engineering staff and build technical capability within the organization.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Expert-level mixed-signal IC design experience (power management ICs, ADCs, DACs, PLLs).
- System-level architectural experience integrating analog and digital IP blocks.
- Advanced methodologies for mixed-signal design, simulation, and modeling.
- Deep understanding of CMOS device physics, process technologies, and yield-driven design practices.
- Experience developing verification strategies and applying sophisticated simulation techniques.
- Proven ability to drive technical innovation resulting in patentable ideas.
- Strong cross-functional influence, communication, and problem-resolution skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10β15 years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD with 8+ years of relevant industry experience. The posting specifies these degree-and-experience combinations as preferred.
