Job Title
Principal Mixed Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead the design and architecture of high-performance mixed-signal ICs for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and industrial instrumentation. Work on system- and chiplet-level designs using fine-line CMOS and high-speed bipolar technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate designs into production-capable systems.
Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and help evolve ADI's industrial portfolio into more integrated market segments.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The position requires 7+ years of relevant experience in system design/architecture, IC design, and design integration.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead architecture and detailed design of complex mixed-signal systems to meet performance and reliability targets.
- Design wireline transmitters and receivers and implement analog and digital equalization (DFE).
- Design and refine clock and data recovery (CDR), VCOs, and PLLs.
- Develop digitally-assisted high-speed analog circuits and custom high-speed digital logic.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ICs into larger systems and production flows.
- Provide technical leadership, review designs, and mentor junior engineers.
- Present design concepts and results to stakeholders and iterate based on feedback.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 7+ years of experience in system design/architecture engineering and design integration.
- Proven experience with RF or high-speed CMOS and/or data converter design.
- Expertise in FinFET (e.g., 16 nm, 5 nm) or fine-line planar analog CMOS (e.g., 28 nm).
- Experience with software-defined CMOS communications or radar system design.
- Proficiency in digitally-assisted high-speed analog design and wireline equalization (analog & digital).
- Experience designing high-speed custom digital circuits.
- Strong presentation, writing, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
- May require export licensing review; applicants who are not U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or otherwise protected may be subject to additional review.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
