Principal IP Qualification Engineer

Role Summary

Lead qualification and verification of third‑party IP (TPIP) before SoC integration. Work with IP vendors and internal Arm teams to define test plans, run verification campaigns, and ensure IP meets Arm quality and interoperability requirements.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute qualification and verification plans for third‑party IP such as standard cells, SRAM, NVM (e-fuse, anti-fuse), PLLs, sensors, and subsystem interfaces (controller + PHY) including LPDDR, USB, Ethernet, PCIe.
  • Develop verification environments, testbenches and regression suites; run simulations and automated regressions.
  • Perform SoC integration testing and validate IP interoperability with Arm compute subsystems.
  • Analyze failures, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate fixes with IP vendors and internal teams.
  • Automate verification flows and build tools/scripts to improve efficiency.
  • Document qualification results, produce reports and conformance evidence for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across teams and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Proven experience qualifying and verifying third‑party IP and interfaces for SoC integration; familiarity with memory, PHYs and common interface protocols.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with RTL/SystemVerilog verification, simulation tools and verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills; experience working directly with IP vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Must-have: Scripting skills (Python, Tcl or similar) for automation of tests and flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with mixed-signal or analog IP qualification, firmware or silicon bring-up.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with verification frameworks (e.g., UVM), CI systems and version control.
