Job Title
Principal IC Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Lead test development for high-performance mixed-signal integrated circuits, creating production-ready test plans and ATE interface circuitry. Work in a cross-functional team from product concept through high-volume production to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effective test solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β role expects experienced engineers; preferred minimum 5 years of ATE test development experience for high-performance ICs.
Responsibilities
The role covers technical test development and production support across the product lifecycle.
- Develop complete industrial test plans for mixed-signal ICs on industry-standard ATE.
- Design custom ATE interface board circuitry with attention to layout symmetry, impedance control, bandwidth, noise, linearity, and repeatability.
- Define characterization and validation setups and specify DfT features from concept to manufacturability.
- Collaborate with Analog/Digital Design, Product Engineering, Quality, Applications, and System teams to meet schedule and cost targets.
- Perform statistical data analysis, DOE, and test debug to reduce test time and cost and improve yield.
- Provide customer support, data evaluation, test limit definition, report generation, and mass-production test support.
- Support reliability, failure analysis, and circuit debug for production and RMA investigations.
- Coordinate with IC foundries and OSATs on test flows and production readiness.
Requirements
Technical must-haves and desirable skills for immediate success.
- Proven experience developing ATE test plans and production test solutions for high-performance ICs.
- Design experience for ATE interface circuitry and signal-integrity-aware PCB layout.
- Thorough understanding of digital, analog, and mixed-signal device testing, PVT characterization, IC qualification, and product launch processes.
- Experience with statistical data processing, designs of experiment, test debug, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Familiarity with IC fabrication processes and their impact on test performance; experience working with foundries and OSATs.
- Experience with reliability testing and failure analysis techniques.
- Experience with or ability to learn major ATE platforms (e.g., Advantest 93K / SmarTest8, Teradyne UltraFlex).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for global cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or higher is stated; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred. The posting also specifies a minimum of approximately 5 years of ATE test development experience for high-performance integrated circuits.
