Job Title

Principal Heterogeneous AI Accelerator Lead

Role Summary

Lead system-level architecture and development of ultra-low-power, tightly integrated analog and digital AI accelerators for embedded and edge platforms. Work within the MicroAI team to translate product requirements into detailed architecture and implementation specifications across compute IP, processors, accelerators, analog/digital subsystems, firmware, and system interfaces.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on architecture exploration, modeling, specification of hardware blocks and interfaces, and collaboration across design, verification, firmware, and physical design teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role requires 10+ years of practical experience in digital and analog AI accelerator systems architecture and ASIC design for embedded or physical-AI platforms.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities are system-architecture leadership, modeling, specification, and cross-team execution.

  • Translate product functions and workloads into end-to-end system architectures and detailed IP/processor/firmware/memory/accelerator specifications.
  • Explore and define novel representations and compute modalities beyond conventional digital AI models.
  • Bridge academic research and real-world deployment by evaluating solutions against physical constraints (noise, power, variability, manufacturability).
  • Lead architecture exploration and collaborate with modeling teams to derive implementation insights and trade-offs.
  • Define detailed hardware block specifications and interfaces; contribute to modeling and RTL when appropriate.
  • Coordinate across architecture, design, verification, firmware, and physical design to ensure architectural intent is realized.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship, influencing architecture across multiple projects and SoC generations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and leadership qualities.

  • 10+ years of experience in digital and analog AI accelerator systems architecture for embedded/physical-AI platforms (robotics, drones, AV, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with digital signal processing and both analog and digital neural-network compute architectures.
  • Experience mapping AI workloads into compute pipelines and resource requirements.
  • Proven ASIC design expertise including high-speed and low-power RTL development; experience with SystemVerilog for representing compute and familiarity with physical design flows and constraints.
  • Strong SystemC modeling and virtual-prototyping experience; ability to build and analyze complex system-level models.
  • Deep understanding of processor architecture: datapaths, memory hierarchies, interconnects, peripherals, and chip-level interfaces.
  • Proficiency with advanced verification methodologies (UVM, SystemVerilog, SystemC, constrained-random testing, functional coverage, assertion-based verification).
  • Strong programming skills in C and other languages used for modeling, simulation, or design.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, strong communication skills, and experience in leadership/management roles.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 10%).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Synopsys Platform Architect or similar system-level modeling tools.
  • Prior work on low-power analog compute representations or analog-digital accelerator co-design.

Education Requirements

PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
