Job Title

Principal FPGA / RTL Design Engineer - Signal Processing

Role Summary

Principal FPGA/RTL engineer responsible for implementing signal-processing algorithms on FPGAs for Silvus Technologies' MIMO tactical radio products. Work covers R&D through field deployment and requires close collaboration with systems, RF and software teams.

Position is based in West Los Angeles on a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days onsite per week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday). Compensation range: $175,000 - $225,000 annually.

Experience Level

Level: Senior / Principal. This role expects extensive FPGA and RTL design experience (senior-level technical contributor).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and support of FPGA-based signal processing systems.

  • Architect and implement digital designs for wireless communication projects.
  • Design fixed-point signal-processing blocks in collaboration with systems engineers.
  • RTL coding, simulation, and testbench development.
  • FPGA synthesis, timing closure, and resource optimization.
  • Hardware verification, troubleshooting and use of logic analyzers.
  • Support RF and software engineering teams during integration and testing.
  • Participate in field tests and demonstrations as required (occasional exposure to field conditions).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, compliance, and employment conditions.

  • Proven experience in RTL design and FPGA implementation (senior-level; specific years summarized in Education Requirements).
  • Strong background in fixed-point binary arithmetic and digital signal-processing implementations.
  • Experience with multi-clock-domain, high-utilization FPGA designs.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs and the Vivado toolchain.
  • Experience with FPGA synthesis, timing closure, and hardware bring-up.
  • Hardware verification and troubleshooting skills; familiarity with logic analyzers.
  • Ability to collaborate with RF and software teams during system integration.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to federal contract requirements.
  • Employment contingent on successful background check and drug test.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Experience/degree equivalency: minimum 10 years of RTL/FPGA experience with a BS; OR 8 years with an MS; OR 6 years with a PhD. Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. (No certifications were specified.)
