Principal Field Application Engineer - MPU

Role Summary

The Principal Field Application Engineer will support automotive applications processors (MPUs) and related system solutions, working with sales and marketing to drive demand, customer design-ins, and successful project execution for key customers.

The role serves as the primary technical interface to customers across the project lifecycle, providing software, hardware and system-architecture guidance to achieve customer product development milestones.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical customer engagement, design-in support, and ensuring project success for automotive MPU-based solutions.

• Promote MPU products and vertical solutions in coordination with sales and marketing.
• Act as the main technical interface for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support customer product development based on NXP automotive processors.
• Provide technical guidance on software, hardware, system architecture, and issue resolution.
• Drive technical engagement, design-in activities, and customer project execution.
• Support demand creation and customer adoption for targeted accounts.

Requirements

Must-have technical and professional qualifications; education requirements are listed separately below.

• Proven experience with high-performance Arm multi-core platforms.
• Strong knowledge of RTOS and embedded software development.
• Hands-on experience with Linux programming, kernel development, and device drivers.
• Familiarity with embedded hardware and high-speed interfaces such as SGMII, XFI, and PCIe.
• Experience supporting automotive applications processors and customer engagements.
• Excellent internal and external communication skills; good written and spoken English.
• Strong learning ability and ownership mindset.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of NPU and edge AI technologies.

Education Requirements
