Role Summary

As a Technical Documentation Engineer on the FPGA Technical Publications team, you will develop and maintain user guides, reference manuals and application notes for Microchip FPGA/SoC products. You will translate complex RTL, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, high-speed protocols, and hardware validation workflows into clear, user-focused documentation for both novice and advanced users.

You will work closely with engineering and product teams, adopt structured authoring practices, and manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in EDA or the semiconductor domain.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

  • Develop, maintain, and publish user-focused technical documentation for FPGA/SoC products (user guides, reference manuals, application notes).
  • Collaborate with engineers and product teams to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Apply documentation standards, style guides, and structured authoring practices (for example, DITA and FrameMaker).
  • Create diagrams, workflows, and illustrations to clarify complex procedures.
  • Manage documentation deliverables and schedules; meet tight deadlines and improve documentation processes.

Requirements

Must-have skills and tools; equivalent practical experience accepted.

  • 10+ years of technical writing experience in EDA or semiconductor companies.
  • Excellent written English and ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Experience with structured authoring and DITA workflows.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools such as FrameMaker and MS Word; graphic tools such as MS Visio.
  • Experience with collaboration platforms (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint).
  • Hands-on experience with EDA/semiconductor tools used to create documentation content.
  • Proven experience producing user guides and related documentation for complex hardware/software workflows.

Education Requirements

Preferred B.Tech or Master’s degree; degree in English Literature or Electronics Engineering is acceptable. The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in technical publications.
