Job Title

Principal Engineer, SOC Integration

Role Summary

Principal Engineer on the SOC Integration team within the DRAM Development Lab (DDL). Responsible for integrating SoCs with multiple high-speed interfaces, reviewing third-party IP, and delivering prototype and production controllers to enhance memory and storage capabilities for data center, machine learning, and edge compute use cases.

Collaborate with architects, verification, and physical design teams to ensure system-level functionality, timing closure, manufacturability, and quality at tape-out.

Experience Level

Senior β€” the posting requests extensive experience (BS with 20+ years or MS with 18+ years of experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical ownership of SoC integration and cross-functional coordination.

  • Own integration of SoCs with multiple high-speed interfaces and system-level buses.
  • Review and evaluate third-party IP including ARM cores, DDR controllers, UCIe PHY, Ethernet, and other commercial IP.
  • Integrate third-party IP with system bus, peripherals, and CPU cores.
  • Work with architects and verification engineers to ensure sound system-level design and testability.
  • Coordinate with physical designers on timing constraints, synthesis, DFT insertion, and static timing analysis.
  • Drive PPA (performance, power, area) trade-off decisions during integration.

Requirements

Technical and professional requirements (degree and years detailed under Education Requirements).

  • Hands-on experience across the ASIC design flow from RTL through tape-out.
  • Experience with commercial IPs such as UCIe, CPU cores, Ethernet, and DDR interfaces.
  • Experience in SoC-level synthesis, static timing analysis, lint and CDC checks.
  • Knowledge of AMBA bus fabrics, ARM CPU cores and debug features.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, inclusive, and continuous-learner mindset.

Education Requirements

BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with 20+ years of experience, or MS in a related field with 18+ years of experience, as stated in the posting.
