Job Title
Principal Engineer, Reliability Engineering
Role Summary
Senior technical lead in the Intrinsic Reliability (iRel) Group based in Limerick. Provide domain expertise in intrinsic reliability characterization, modeling, and qualification for GaN and other wide-bandgap (WBG) power semiconductor devices (100Vβ650V) to de-risk product development and ensure robust product qualification across programs.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10+ years' experience in semiconductor reliability with significant GaN or wide-bandgap (WBG) focus.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute intrinsic reliability strategy and activities for GaN and related WBG technologies.
- Define and execute reliability qualification methodologies (e.g., HTGB, HTRB, switching and transient stress tests).
- Drive GaN intrinsic reliability strategy across 100Vβ650V technologies to align with product roadmaps.
- Lead physics-of-failure (PoF) investigations and root-cause analysis for degradation and failures.
- Develop and validate lifetime and reliability models covering voltage, temperature, and switching dependencies.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to de-risk products and provide reliability-driven design recommendations and guardbands.
- Develop and enhance intrinsic reliability test infrastructure, including ATE-based and custom stress systems.
- Define and advance next-generation reliability methodologies for GaN and wider WBG technologies (e.g., SiC, AlGaN).
Requirements
Key must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted separately.
-
Must-have: 10+ years' experience in semiconductor reliability with substantial hands-on GaN or WBG device focus.
-
Must-have: Demonstrated experience with reliability characterization, qualification, and modeling for power/GaN devices.
-
Must-have: Practical experience with HTGB, HTRB, switching and transient stress testing and PoF/root-cause investigations.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence design choices, and make technical decisions on reliability risks and guardbands.
-
Must-have: Experience developing reliability test infrastructure (ATE and custom stress systems).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with SiC, AlGaN, and other wide-bandgap device technologies; prior work on high-voltage (100Vβ650V) power products.
Education Requirements
PhD or MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Semiconductor Engineering.
