Principal Engineer, Reliability

Role Summary

As Principal Engineer in Reliability you will define and execute reliability qualification and test plans, design and characterize reliability test structures, analyze failure data, and recommend design rules and process improvements. You will collaborate with fab, technology development, and customer teams to assess and mitigate reliability risk across device, process and product integration.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 7 years of experience in semiconductor reliability engineering.

Responsibilities

Deliver reliability qualification, testing, analysis, modeling and risk assessment to support technology development, manufacturing and customers.

• Define qualification plans, determine test conditions, and design hardware/software for special test requests.
• Design and characterize reliability test structures and establish reliability layout rules and models.
• Execute and benchmark reliability testing methodologies, process qualification criteria and reliability design rules.
• Perform reliability testing, failure analysis and risk assessments for process changes, fab excursions and field failures.
• Develop and maintain models for failure mechanisms (HCI, NBTI, TDDB, PID, EM, BEOL TDDB) to support IC designers' risk assessment.
• Improve test-cycle time and accuracy through refinement of test-structure designs and test methodologies.
• Document and maintain test procedures, findings and tools; provide training and technical support to reliability staff and customers.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required; preferred items listed separately.

• Practical knowledge of reliability failure mechanisms and hands-on reliability testing and analysis.
• Experience designing reliability test structures and executing qualification tests.
• Experience performing reliability risk assessments and providing technical recommendations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical results to cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Semiconductor process or device-physics background.
• Familiarity with statistical/quality tools such as Minitab, JMP, FMEA, 8D.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Engineering (Electronics, Materials) or Physics is specified. The posting requires a minimum of 7 years of semiconductor reliability experience (experience requirement noted separately from education).
