Principal Engineer, Product Engineering
Role Summary
Principal Engineer on the Product Engineering team supporting Networking (CuPhy, ODSP/CDSP & Custom Solutions). Responsible for preparing products for mass production, deploying and running test programs and hardware across Marvell test sites in Asia, performing failure analysis and debugging, and leading cost-reduction and continuous-improvement projects to improve yield, quality, and throughput.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include establishing production test programs, troubleshooting device and test issues, and driving yield and cost improvements.
- Setup and transfer new products and technologies to test locations in Asia for mass production.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain test programs and test hardware on industrial test systems.
- Investigate and resolve device testing and program-related failures; perform failure analysis and software/hardware debugging.
- Collaborate with design, development, and cross-functional engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Maintain and improve product test yield and quality across final test, system-level test, wafer and bump sort.
- Lead cost-reduction activities: yield improvement, test insertion elimination, test time reduction, multi-site enhancements, and wafer sort implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement for test efficiency, production throughput, and test hardware.
- Provide customer return verification and support; travel on short notice as required.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for success in this role.
- Minimum 10 years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Basic understanding of product test methodology and implementation.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and failure-debugging skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work across levels of management.
- Willingness to travel on short notice.
- Nice-to-have: experience with JMP statistical analysis tool; scripting with Perl or Python.
Education Requirements
B.S. (Bachelor of Science) in Electronics / Electrical Engineering specified.
