Principal Engineer, Manufacturing Test Platform

Role Summary

Build diagnostics and manufacturing software to design, test, and manufacture photonics products (optical transceivers) for data center applications. Work with cross-functional engineering teams from conception through production to enable scalable mass production.

Focus areas include test development, automation, data analysis, hardware bring-up, and production optimization.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of experience in embedded software development, software testing, and test automation; prior experience with optical transceiver validation or related hardware is expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing production test systems, automating validation, and driving production readiness.

• Design, implement, and validate manufacturing tests for mass production of photonics products.
• Create high-level software abstractions for low-level hardware interfaces.
• Develop reusable test scripts and modules to validate firmware, run regression suites, and support NPI testing and hardware bring-up.
• Perform root-cause analysis on reported failures and drive corrective actions.
• Collect and analyze test and production data to identify reliability and efficiency improvements.
• Integrate test results with databases and dashboards for visualization and analytics.
• Analyze factory processes and workflows to recommend and implement optimizations.
• Collaborate with vendors and partners to evaluate and deploy factory systems and firmware/software upgrades.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

• Must-have: 10+ years in embedded software development, software testing, and test automation.
• Must-have: Prior experience with optical transceiver validation or CMIS protocol or closely related hardware validation.
• Must-have: Strong proficiency in C# or Python.
• Must-have: Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams.
• Preferred: Experience with test automation frameworks such as PyVISA.
• Preferred: Hands-on exposure to test equipment: bit error rate testers, digital communication analyzers, laser sources, power meters, optical spectrum analyzers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
