Job Title
Principal Engineer - IP Design
Role Summary
Lead individual contributor responsible for defining and delivering the Vision IP domain roadmap and architecting complex IP solutions for automotive systems (ADAS, radar, in-vehicle networks, gateway systems and ASIL‑D subsystems). Works across global SoC, systems and algorithm teams from high-level specification through implementation and system integration.
Experience Level
Senior-level. 12–15 years of hands-on experience in IP architecture and design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover technical leadership, architecture, design and delivery of IP across the full development lifecycle.
- Own and drive roadmaps for the Vision IP domain within global R&D.
- Architect and design complex IP across vision and protocol domains for automotive systems.
- Define high-level specifications and convert them into implementable designs that meet system performance targets.
- Benchmark competitors and define differentiating product features.
- Lead IP from concept through design, verification and integration on market-driven schedules.
- Ensure quality across development phases; recommend and implement process improvements to reduce defects.
- Collaborate with verification, systems and SoC teams and mentor engineering peers.
- Support pre-silicon validation activities including FPGA/emulation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes.
- 12–15 years hands-on experience in IP/subsystem architecture and design.
- Experience with vision/image/signal processing pipeline design.
- Experience with microcontroller architecture, caches and bus protocols (AHB/AMBA, AXI).
- Proficient in HDLs (Verilog and/or VHDL), scripting (Perl, Tcl) and C/C++ for hardware modeling.
- Knowledge of end-to-end IP development: CDC/RDC, synthesis, DFT/ATPG, testbench and testplan development.
- Hands-on pre-silicon validation using FPGA or emulation is a significant advantage (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication, ownership, emotional intelligence and ability to work across multisite teams.
