Principal Engineer - Interface IP Verification (Pre-Silicon: PCIe, CXL, DDR, Ethernet)

Role Summary

Senior verification engineer responsible for pre-silicon verification of high-speed interface IP (PCIe, CXL, DDR, Ethernet). The role sits in the ASIC Digital Design / Hardware Engineering organization and focuses on verification strategy, environment development, debugging, and deliverable readiness for silicon signoff.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant verification or design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver pre-silicon verification for interface IP and lead technical verification efforts.

• Define and execute verification plans and metrics for PCIe, CXL, DDR, and Ethernet IP.
• Develop and maintain UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches and verification environments.
• Create directed and constrained-random tests, cover results, and close verification gaps.
• Debug RTL, firmware, and integration issues using simulation, emulation, and lab bring-up.
• Collaborate with IP architects, digital designers, firmware, and integration teams to resolve issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive verification best practices and automation.

• Strong SystemVerilog and UVM experience for testbench and verification environment development.

• Experience with verification planning, coverage-driven verification, and metrics tracking.
• Excellent debugging, scripting (Python/Perl/Tcl), and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have

• Familiarity with PCIe, CXL, DDR protocols and Ethernet MAC/PCS verification.
• Experience with hardware-software integration, silicon bring-up, and formal or low-power verification techniques.
• Experience mentoring teams and influencing cross-functional verification strategy.
