Job Title
Principal Engineer, High-Speed RTL Design
Role Summary
Lead RTL design and implementation of timing‑critical blocks for high‑speed SoC and memory subsystems. Work with verification, physical design, and system teams to deliver synthesizable, timing‑clean RTL that meets latency, robustness, and power requirements.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal) level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Accountable for design, integration, and delivery of high‑speed RTL modules and for supporting verification and timing closure.
- Design and implement timing‑critical RTL: control/sequencing FSMs, power‑up/shutdown/mode‑transition logic, register banks, telemetry/monitoring datapath.
- Write nanometer‑process aware RTL that meets synthesis, STA, and ECO requirements under tight setup/hold margins and PVT variation.
- Implement and review CDC, reset/initialization, and power‑aware logic to ensure predictable startup, recovery, and mode behavior.
- Integrate RTL into larger subsystems; resolve port, clock/reset, and mode interaction issues.
- Debug integration issues using simulation waveforms and EDA tool feedback; collaborate on timing closure by refining logic or adding constrained pipelining.
- Participate in RTL and design reviews and maintain clear block documentation.
Requirements
Key technical skills and practical experience required; additional desirable skills listed separately.
Must-have:
- Strong proficiency in SystemVerilog/Verilog RTL coding.
- Proven experience designing FSMs, reset synchronization, and clock‑domain crossing techniques.
- Solid understanding of timing‑critical control logic, setup/hold fundamentals, and critical‑path sensitivity.
- Familiarity with RTL lint/CDC checks, synthesis flows, basic STA reports, DFT‑friendly practices, UPF, and LEC.
- Experience debugging RTL issues exposed during sign‑off or late integration stages.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to PMICs, mixed‑signal SoCs, or companion ICs and mixed‑signal interactions.
- Basic scripting for automation (Python, Tcl) and experience with AI‑enabled engineering tools.
- Experience working across RTL–DV–PD handshakes and industry‑standard specifications.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
