Job Title

Principal Engineer - HIG HBM PSE

Role Summary

Senior individual contributor on Micron's HBM Product Engineering Component Validation team responsible for post-silicon validation, debug, and failure analysis of advanced High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) products.

Work within a global validation organization to define validation coverage, execute and analyze validation runs, drive root-cause analysis toward zero-escape validation goals, and apply automation and AI-enabled tools to accelerate engineering tasks.

Experience Level

Senior — expects experienced engineer level. Minimum guidance: 6+ years of relevant experience in memory semiconductor or related industries as indicated in the original posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation activities and diagnosing failures across hardware, firmware, and system interactions.

  • Translate DRAM/HBM architecture and development intent into verification scope and test cases.
  • Validate new and high-risk product features in coordination with Design Validation and Systems Engineering.
  • Review design specifications, schematics, and datasheets; provide product engineering feedback in design and verification reviews.
  • Read and debug circuit blueprints to identify design-related failure mechanisms and recommend verification or diagnostic approaches.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of electrical failures and distinguish design marginality from process/test issues.
  • Implement and apply automation and tooling to improve detection efficiency and cycle time.
  • Adopt agentic and LLM-based workflows (automated code generation/review, accelerated failure analysis) to improve turnaround and quality.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are marked.

  • Must: Strong understanding of DRAM and HBM structure, operation, and build concepts.
  • Must: Proven experience reading and debugging circuit schematics to isolate failure causes tied to design or development.
  • Must: Extensive post-silicon product validation and debug experience, including electrical failure analysis and root-cause investigation.
  • Must: Solid programming experience on Linux with Python and C/C++.
  • Must: Experience with Verilog, UVM, and version control systems (git, svn, Perforce).
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on use of lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and high-speed I/O / signal-integrity validation experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience validating products across hardware, firmware, and software stacks.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience applying generative-AI or agentic tooling to semiconductor test/validation workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Mentoring experience and cross-site, multi-functional collaboration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; posting specifies a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in the memory semiconductor industry.
