Micron TechnologyJob Title
Principal Engineer - HIG HBM (PE Design Validation)
Role Summary
Lead validation and product engineering efforts for HBM memory products. Serve as the primary technical interface between Design, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and external customers to ensure product robustness, manufacturability, and customer readiness.
Define and execute validation strategy, drive cross-functional issue resolution, and improve validation coverage, test efficiency, and debug turnaround.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal-level). The role expects experienced engineers; the posting recommends 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include planning and executing validation, technical leadership, and driving continuous improvement.
- Lead technical discussions and act as primary interface across Design, PE, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and customers; prioritize and drive closure of issues across organizations.
- Define and execute comprehensive validation plans for HBM products, including design validation, test-mode validation, simulation, and ATE/bench analysis.
- Perform complex root-cause analysis and hardware debug for silicon, manufacturing, test, quality, and customer failures using circuit simulation, statistical techniques, and failure analysis.
- Develop validation methodologies to improve manufacturability and product quality; challenge existing approaches and introduce improvements.
- Apply advanced data analysis and risk assessment to identify trends, improve coverage, and accelerate resolution; develop automated analysis tools where applicable.
- Maintain deep understanding of HBM architecture, JEDEC specifications, memory subsystems, and test methodologies to guide validation and debug.
- Promote and integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve engineering efficiency and decision making, following organizational standards and legal requirements.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required and preferred.
- Must-have: 5+ years in Design Validation, Product Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of memory architecture (DRAM/LPDDR); HBM experience preferred; VLSI, semiconductor process, and device physics understanding.
- Must-have: Hands-on exposure to schematic review, circuit simulation, data analysis, lab debug, or pattern manipulation.
- Must-have: Experience with hardware description or verification languages: Verilog, VHDL, and/or SystemVerilog.
- Must-have: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with ATE/bench analysis, failure analysis workflows, automated data-mining solutions, and prior work on JEDEC-compliant memory products.
