Principal Engineer, HBM Design Verification
Role Summary
Member of the Micron HBM verification team responsible for defining and driving verification architecture, methodology, and sign-off for next-generation HBM designs. The role focuses on hands-on silicon verification, testbench development, formal techniques, and improving verification efficiency through automation and AI-enabled workflows.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 12+ years in design verification. Preferred experience with pre-silicon verification or DDR/GDDR/LPDDR memory and SerDes PHY IP verification.
Responsibilities
Technical and leadership responsibilities to deliver verification sign-off and improve verification quality and efficiency.
- Define and drive verification architecture, methodology, and sign-off criteria for HBM designs.
- Develop verification plans, coverage strategies, and closure approaches.
- Architect and implement UVM-based testbenches and reusable verification components.
- Apply Formal Verification techniques to critical blocks and interfaces.
- Run and manage simulation, coverage analysis, and regression flows.
- Collaborate closely with build/implementation teams to ensure verification completeness and quality.
- Mentor and guide verification engineers on advanced methodologies and best practices.
- Develop automation and AI-enabled verification solutions to improve throughput and detection capability.
Requirements
Core technical skills and demonstrated leadership in verification.
- Expert-level proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong experience with Formal Verification tools and techniques.
- Solid understanding of SoC architecture and common bus protocols (AXI, PCIe) and low-power design considerations.
- Hands-on experience with simulation, coverage analysis, and regression management.
- Proven ability to lead verification teams and influence technical direction.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Comfortable using internal AI tools (for example, Copilot/Claude) to support verification workflows.
- Nice-to-have: Python/TCL scripting for automation; prior experience with DDR/GDDR/LPDDR or SerDes PHY IP verification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degree, or equivalent practical experience, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
