Principal Engineer - Digital Design
Role Summary
Lead the micro-architecture, RTL design, integration and execution of UA Link Switch products within the Memory Interface Division (MID). Provide technical leadership across architecture, verification, physical design, firmware and system teams to deliver high-bandwidth, low-latency switching and interconnect solutions for AI, HPC and memory-centric systems.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 15+ years of experience in digital ASIC/SoC development and program leadership.
Responsibilities
Accountable for end-to-end technical delivery of high-speed switch/interconnect products.
- Lead digital architecture, microarchitecture and RTL design for UA Link Switch products.
- Drive design integration, performance optimization and trade-off analysis (power, performance, area, scalability).
- Coordinate cross-functional teams: architecture, verification, firmware, physical design, signal integrity, and systems.
- Manage requirements definition through silicon bring-up and product qualification.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor senior engineers across multiple teams.
- Participate in architectural reviews, design audits, and technical roadmap planning.
- Engage with ecosystem and standards bodies to align product implementations with industry protocols.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
Must-have
- 15+ years experience in digital ASIC/SoC development and delivery of complex silicon products.
- Experience in high-speed digital design, switching fabrics, NoC or high-speed interconnect architectures.
- Strong RTL skills with Verilog/SystemVerilog and hands-on experience with modern ASIC flows (synthesis, STA, low-power methodologies).
- Experience with silicon bring-up, debugging and performance analysis.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical programs and influence cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with high-speed SerDes-based systems, packet processing, memory interface technologies and AI/HPC interconnect solutions.
- Familiarity with protocols such as PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, UCIe.
- Experience developing large-scale SoCs for networking, compute, storage or memory applications.
- Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams and strong stakeholder communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (as stated in the posting).
