Job Title
Principal Engineer - Device Model Engineer
Role Summary
Develop compact device models and perform model extraction for DC and RF behavior for devices such as diodes, varactors, resistors, photodetectors and BEOL components across SOI, Bulk and GaN technologies. Define test structures and layouts, drive electrical characterization (DC, CV, S-parameters, noise, mismatch), and collaborate with global teams to reconcile data and models.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Principal). Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include device characterization, model development, and cross-team collaboration.
- Perform device model extraction for DC and RF frequencies for diodes, varactors, resistors, BEOL capacitors, Hall devices, photodetectors and similar devices.
- Develop compact, physics-based models for SOI, Bulk and GaN technologies.
- Define test structures and layout; support items to be offered in the PDK.
- Plan and submit electrical characterization tests such as DC-IV, DC-CV, S-parameters, noise and mismatch measurements.
- Analyze measurement data, identify discrepancies, and implement model corrections in coordination with global teams.
- Characterize and model BEOL RF components (inductors, capacitors, transmission lines) and debug EM simulations as needed.
- Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and interpersonal capabilities; preferred items noted separately.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and ability to interpret device data for diodes, varactors, resistors, BJTs, photodetectors and Hall devices.
- Experience with S-parameters and their use in extracting RF device models.
- Strong coding skills for data analysis and model development.
- Ability to understand and debug EM simulations.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills for effective global collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to RF measurements and related S-parameter work.
- Experience working with device and fab organizations across multiple levels.
Education Requirements
PhD in the domain of semiconductor devices is required. Preferred: PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Microelectronics or semiconductor devices.
