Principal Engineer - Design Enablement

Lead design-enablement work for silicon photonics PDK development, partnering with photonics, design, and fabrication teams to deliver application-oriented device designs, fabrication, and characterization.

Work includes device design and optimization, experimental verification, technical support for PDKs, and protecting IP through patent filings.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for the role include device design, verification, and support for PDK development.

• Design and optimize silicon photonic passive and active devices (e.g., balanced and high-speed photodetectors) for PDK development.
• Independently perform device characterization, analyze results, and document findings.
• Provide technical support and respond to PDK-related questionnaires from customers and internal teams.
• Prepare and file patents to protect silicon photonics intellectual property.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across photonics and fabrication (FAB) to execute projects.
• Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and perform duties safely.
• Perform other project-driven duties as assigned.
