Principal Engineer, DDR/LPDDR IP Design
SynopsysJob Title
Principal Engineer, DDR/LPDDR IP Design
Role Summary
Design and verify DDR/LPDDR silicon IP as part of a digital and mixed-signal team, focusing on RTL-based digital design, verification, simulation and silicon debug for current and next-generation technology.
Collaborate with cross-functional design groups and customer support to deliver and maintain high-end DDR/LPDDR IP products.
Experience Level
Senior - expects approximately 9+ to 12+ years of relevant digital design experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include digital RTL design, verification, debug, and cross-team product support.
- Implement and review digital RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) following coding style and EDA tool flows.
- Identify and resolve RTL issues reported by lint, CDC, DFT and synthesis tools.
- Perform simulation and silicon debug to root-cause functional and timing issues.
- Support DDR/LPDDR IP integration and delivery for current and next-generation technologies.
- Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal, and verification engineers to deliver IP products.
- Interact with application and customer support teams to address integration and field issues.
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven digital design experience using Verilog and SystemVerilog in RTL-based flows.
- Strong simulation and silicon debug skills; ability to root-cause issues across simulation and silicon environments.
- Experience with Synopsys EDA tools such as VCS, Verdi, SpyGlass, Design Compiler (DC), and Formality.
- Familiarity with lint, CDC, DFT, and synthesis workflows and resolving tool violations.
- Effective verbal and written communication for cross-team and customer interactions.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of DDR, LPDDR, HBM, or UCIe interface technologies.
- Scripting experience in Shell, Perl, Python, and TCL.
- Background in analog circuits or mixed-signal design.
- Experience working with application engineers for customer support.
Education Requirements
Degree: B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years of digital design experience, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 9+ years of relevant experience. The posting specifies electrical engineering degrees; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
