Principal Engineer (C++/Data Structures/Algorithms)
Role Summary
Join the QuestaSim R&D team as a Principal Engineer to design and implement algorithms and software that power simulation tools. You will architect large-scale systems, lead technical initiatives, and deliver production-quality components across the simulation product stack.
Position is hybrid in Fremont, CA. Employment is subject to U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) and may require U.S. Person status or an export license.
Experience Level
Senior — 15–25 years of professional software engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect and implement advanced algorithms and software designs for simulation tools.
- Define and drive implementations for complex, open-ended technical problems.
- Develop and enhance production-quality components, engines, and existing codebases.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to solve hard software problems and meet project milestones.
- Provide technical leadership, direction, and continuous improvement to the team.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven ability to architect and implement large-scale software systems.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, data structures, and algorithms.
- Deep expertise in compiler concepts and optimization techniques.
- Proven experience on UNIX/Linux platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; track record of delivering results independently.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in electronic design automation (EDA) or simulation domains.
- Scripting and tooling experience (for example Python) and performance tuning of complex systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
