Job Title
Principal Engineer, Analog Design
Role Summary
Lead architect and designer of high-performance analog/mixed-signal IP for SoCs, focused on signal-chain IP (ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, sensor interfaces) or power-management IP (LDOs, DC-DCs, charge pumps, bandgaps). Responsible for architecture, transistor-level design, silicon bring-up, and cross-disciplinary integration to deliver reusable IP platforms.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 10+ years of experience in analog/mixed-signal design and delivery of complex analog IP from concept to silicon.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, design, verification, and silicon execution of analog/mixed-signal IP and cross-team technical leadership.
- Architect and design high-performance analog/mixed-signal IP (ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, sensor interfaces, LDOs, DC-DCs, bandgaps, charge pumps).
- Perform transistor-level schematic design, simulation and verification across PVT corners; ensure robustness against process variation, mismatch, noise and reliability issues.
- Lead silicon execution: tape-out support, silicon bring-up, characterization, and debugging.
- Define validation and characterization requirements; drive spec compliance, DFT needs, and bring-up procedures.
- Collaborate with digital, system, layout and product teams to resolve system-level trade-offs (noise, performance, area, reliability).
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship; establish analog design best practices and influence IP roadmap for reuse and scalability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.
- Proven track record of end-to-end analog/mixed-signal IP development and delivery for industrial/automotive or similar markets.
- Expertise in CMOS analog design fundamentals: noise analysis, stability/compensation, device mismatch, low-power techniques.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard EDA tools and analog simulation environments (Cadence, Synopsys, Ansys); expertise with Virtuoso.
- Basic scripting and automation skills (Perl, Python) for flow automation and verification.
- Strong silicon bring-up and debugging skills; familiarity with lab equipment for characterization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce clear architecture, requirements and design documentation.
- Comfortable working in global, cross-disciplinary teams.
-
Nice-to-have: experience with ISO 26262/IEC 61508, analog layout techniques, publications or patents.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
