Principal Engineer, Analog Design Engineering
Analog DevicesJob Title
Principal Engineer, Analog Design Engineering
Role Summary
Lead analog and power‑management IC design for next‑generation PMIC and mixed‑signal products. Provide technical leadership across cross‑functional teams, guide architecture and transistor‑level implementation, and mentor engineering talent.
Experience Level
Senior - position expects an experienced engineer; posting specifies a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership and hands‑on design from architecture through silicon validation, with a core focus on power‑management blocks.
- Lead analog/mixed‑signal IC product development: architecture exploration, transistor‑level implementation, verification, and design optimization.
- Engage with customers to assess feasibility and shape product concepts and business cases.
- Collaborate with design, test, applications, and marketing to define system and block‑level specifications.
- Integrate analog blocks into larger mixed‑signal systems and drive bring‑up, silicon debug, and optimization across PVT corners.
- Provide technical oversight for IC layout, packaging, PCB design, lab evaluation, and production test.
- Mentor engineers and promote continuous improvement in design practices and team capabilities.
- Apply AI techniques to improve design automation, optimization, and modeling workflows.
- Improve analog design and verification methodologies to reduce time‑to‑market and cost.
- Architect, design, and validate power‑management circuits: switching regulators (buck/boost, multi‑phase), LDOs, charge pumps, and related control and compensation schemes.
- Model DC‑DC switching behavior using Simplis, Verilog‑A, or Verilog‑AMS and develop closed‑loop control/compensation strategies.
Requirements
Must‑have technical skills and proven track record in analog and power IC design. Preferred items listed separately.
- Expert-level knowledge of analog and mixed‑signal circuit design, device physics, layout techniques, and verification flows.
- Extensive hands‑on experience designing power management ICs (switching regulators, LDOs, charge pumps) and feedback/control loop design.
- Proficiency with Cadence design environment and mixed‑signal simulation tools.
- Proficiency with Simplis for power modeling and behavioral simulation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead circuit block or system development through silicon validation and product debug.
- Experience integrating analog/power IP into complex SoC environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for distributed, cross‑functional teams.
- Nice to have: experience with Verilog, Verilog‑AMS/Verilog‑A modeling, and AI‑assisted design tools.
Education Requirements
M.S.E.E. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering is specified; the posting also requires a minimum of 12 years' experience as an analog/mixed‑signal IC designer.
