Role Summary

Senior software engineer on the QuestaSim (simulation) R&D team responsible for architecting and implementing high-performance simulation algorithms and production-quality software components. The role focuses on solving complex technical problems in simulation engines and improving existing codebases.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 15–20 years of professional software development experience, especially in complex engineering or simulation applications.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing algorithms, contributing to core product code, and collaborating with senior engineers to deliver high-quality simulation technology.

• Design and architect algorithms and software solutions for simulation tools.
• Implement and enhance production-quality components, engines, and algorithms.
• Diagnose and solve complex software problems in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Maintain and improve existing codebases for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to meet project milestones.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes follow; preferred items are listed separately.

• Extensive experience (15–20 years) developing complex software systems.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ with solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Expertise in compiler concepts and optimizations.
• Experience developing on UNIX/Linux platforms.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Proven ability to define and implement architectures for open-ended problem scopes.

Nice-to-have:

• Basic knowledge of digital electronics and SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL concepts.
• Familiarity with parallel algorithms and job distribution techniques.
• Exposure to simulation or formal verification methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
