Principal Embedded Firmware Developer

Role Summary

Principal firmware engineer responsible for developing and validating low-power ARM Cortex SoC firmware including bootloader, platform infrastructure, and hardware APIs. Works closely with hardware designers and software architects through silicon bring-up and system validation.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 12+ years of embedded software development experience; at least 3 years hands-on experience with ARM processors and toolchains.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include firmware development, system bring-up, and hardware–software co-verification for ARM Cortex-based SoCs.

• Develop and verify bootloader, platform infrastructure software, and hardware APIs for ARM Cortex low-power SoCs.
• Set up build frameworks and toolchains; generate makefiles for firmware development.
• Collaborate with hardware designers and software architects to define and analyze software requirements.
• Perform hardware–software co-verification and participate in silicon bring-up/validation.
• Review SoC architecture and hardware peripherals; recommend efficient HW–SW system solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven hands-on experience.

• 12+ years of embedded software development experience.
• At least 3 years hands-on experience with ARM processors and toolchains.
• In-depth understanding of ARM Cortex architecture.
• Experience with ARM software tools/IDEs such as IAR, Keil, ARMCLANG.
• Strong command of C and assembly; strong firmware debugging experience on microcontroller-based boards.
• Experience in microcontroller/SoC development, validation, and silicon bring-up.
• Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and effective verbal and written communication.
• Working knowledge of radio protocols is an advantage.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field (B.E./M.E. or equivalent) from a reputed university.
