Principal Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Lead process technology and device engineering efforts to enable semiconductor product tape-outs and production ramps. Work as the technical interface to foundry partners and coordinate development, qualification, reliability, and transfer activities across Design, Product Engineering, Packaging, Reliability, and Operations.
Provide device-level guidance to design teams and drive test-chip characterization, modeling, and technology benchmarking to meet product requirements.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 10+ years of semiconductor industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, collaboration with foundries, and device/process enablement for products.
- Act as technical interface with foundry partners to drive device/process development, qualification, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Plan and lead device and modeling test-chip tape-outs, characterization, and data analysis.
- Lead risk-reduction and enablement activities for new technologies and product development.
- Provide technical guidance to circuit and design teams during development and tape-out.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities with Packaging, Reliability, Product Engineering, and Operations to ensure successful production ramps.
- Benchmark technology platforms for competitiveness and alignment with product requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; items marked as nice-to-have are optional.
- Must-have: Deep understanding of CMOS and BCD process integration, device physics, and reliability.
- Must-have: Extensive experience collaborating with semiconductor foundries and driving BCD or process integration projects.
- Must-have: Experience with PDKs, SPICE models, device simulation, and interpreting model behavior for design use.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with device characterization tools (semiconductor parameter analyzers, power device analyzers, TLP systems) and analyzing test-chip results.
- Must-have: Proven cross-functional communication and stakeholder alignment skills to resolve complex technical issues.
- Nice-to-have: Advanced-node process experience and prior work on power-device technologies.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field. The role specifies 10+ years of semiconductor industry experience.
