Job Title
Principal Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Principal Electrical Engineer on the Radiation-Hardened (Rad-Hard) IC design team in San Jose, focused on analog and mixed-signal power management products for space markets. The role leads transistor-level design and program execution to deliver high-reliability DC-DC converters, LDOs, and multifunction power-management circuits from concept through production.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Principal). Typically 7+ years of relevant analog/mixed-signal power IC design experience or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities
Design, validate, and lead delivery of power-management integrated circuits; coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet program objectives.
- Collaborate with marketing, applications, and customers on product definition and requirements.
- Apply knowledge of power process technologies to architect next-generation power-management products.
- Perform transistor-level design of mixed-signal circuits for new and derivative products (DC-DC, LDOs, multifunction PMICs).
- Lead and manage programs to achieve scheduled project milestones and deliverables.
- Validate, debug, and verify silicon prior to production transfer and work with production engineering for release.
- Interface with process, test, product, applications, and marketing teams to bring products from prototype to production.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Deep understanding of integrated analog circuit design and mixed-signal design flows.
- Experience with bipolar, BiCMOS, and BCD process technologies and large-power transistor (bipolar and DMOS) design, layout, and robustness.
- Thorough knowledge of switch-mode power-conversion topologies (boost, buck, multi-phase current sharing) and control methods.
- Hands-on experience with Cadence tools for analog design and mixed-signal simulation.
- Experience with behavioral top-level modeling, mixed-signal verification methodologies, analog/digital interfaces, and digital buses.
- Proven ability to lead programs, work independently, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Direct experience with radiation-hardened (Rad-Hard) power-management products.
- Familiarity with gate-driver techniques and control-system design for power converters.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science (MSEE) or PhD preferred, or equivalent industry experience. Equivalent practical experience in analog/mixed-signal and power IC design is acceptable.
