Principal DSP Software Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver DSP audio filters, algorithms and embedded DSP solutions for audio products. Work with cross-site engineering teams in Greece (Athens and Patras) within Renesas' embedded systems organization.

Responsible for implementing, verifying and optimising production-ready DSP firmware and audio frameworks from requirements through to production.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design, implement and verify DSP audio filters and algorithms for embedded targets.
• Develop, integrate and optimise DSP firmware and audio frameworks on MCU/IC platforms.
• Create and maintain test benches for algorithms and embedded code in simulation and on target hardware.
• Debug and resolve technical issues across software and hardware domains.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and report issues using tracking tools.
• Provide technical support through product requirements, development and production phases.

Requirements

Key must-have and desirable qualifications.

Must-have:

• Approx. 6+ years experience in embedded software development with a strong DSP focus.
• Strong knowledge of DSP, MCU, IC and audio codec architectures.
• Proficient in real-time embedded C/C++ and DSP algorithm development; experience with fixed-point implementation.
• Experience with embedded architectures and real-time systems; strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Competency in Python and/or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with software development workflows and issue tracking (e.g., JIRA); ability to work to tight schedules and communicate across multi-site teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in audio, digital filtering and portable audio applications (headphones, wireless earbuds).
• Experience optimising DSP solutions for low footprint, low latency and low power.
• Previous team-leading or technical-leading experience.
• Familiarity with CI tools such as Jenkins and experience using SystemC.

Education Requirements
