Job Title
Principal Digital IP Verification Engineer (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Lead pre-silicon verification activities for digital IP blocks and subsystems within the Munich Digital IP team, focusing on AI/ML processing blocks, RISC-V cores, and related interfaces. Work across hardware, firmware, software, architecture, and system engineering teams to deliver defect-free IP.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 10 years of experience in IP or subsystem verification, with strong background in CPU/accelerator verification and verification methodology.
Responsibilities
Perform and lead verification work across IP and subsystem domains to ensure functional correctness and delivery quality.
- Define and implement comprehensive IP verification plans from requirements and design specs.
- Architect, develop, debug, and maintain UVM-based verification environments for RTL simulation.
- Develop testcases, stimulus generation, and assertion-based checks; run directed and constrained-random tests.
- Execute simulations across RTL, power-aware RTL, gate-level, FPGA, and emulation platforms; run regressions and drive coverage closure.
- Debug functional failures, analyze results, and drive defect resolution with cross-functional teams.
- Use AI-based tools to enhance development and verification efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of verification methodologies, flows, and metric-driven verification practices.
- Work on security-sensitive tasks that may fall within security certification scope; follow secure engineering practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for the role. Nice-to-have items noted separately.
- Solid understanding of microprocessor architecture, interconnects, and cache coherency mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with CPU verification (proprietary cores, RISC-V, or AI/ML accelerators).
- Strong experience in testbench development using UVM for IP, subsystem, or SoC verification.
- Experience with AMBA protocols (AHB, AXI, ACE, CHI) and memory systems (ROM, RAM, Flash, DDR/LPDDR).
- Advanced knowledge of Verilog, SystemVerilog, and C/C++.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell).
- Familiarity with metric-driven verification: functional and code coverage; directed and constrained-random methodologies.
- Working knowledge of formal verification techniques and assertion-based verification.
- Experience debugging designs in both pre-silicon (simulation/emulation) and post-silicon environments; strong analytical and communication skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Basic conversational German.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
