Job Title

Principal Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the digital design and verification of mixed-signal ASSP and FPGA-based products from architecture through tape-out. Work within the Digital Healthcare IC design team in Bari to define top-level requirements, drive technical decisions, and coordinate cross-functional execution for healthcare-focused SoC and module solutions.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 10+ years of relevant experience in mixed-signal digital design and SoC development.

Responsibilities

Deliver and oversee digital design and verification activities across project milestones, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior engineers.

  • Define top-level chip requirements and act as digital lead on key projects.
  • Architect and implement complex SoC digital subsystems for ASSP and FPGA targets.
  • Develop RTL (SystemVerilog) and use standard-cell flows to meet functional, power, and timing goals.
  • Plan and execute block- and full-chip verification, regressions, synthesis, timing analysis, and scan/ATPG.
  • Support silicon bring-up and debug, including FPGA testbench and characterization activities.
  • Coordinate with Product, Test, Applications, and Marketing teams to ensure product success.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior design engineers.
  • Document and present design status and technical decisions in project meetings.

Must-have

  • RTL design using SystemVerilog and digital design for mixed-signal products.
  • Experience with synthesis, timing closure, and scan/ATPG flows.
  • Full-chip verification and regression strategy for complex designs.
  • Silicon debug experience and FPGA-based testbench support.
  • SoC architecture experience and ability to define ASSP architecture/specs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven ability to drive technical strategy and mentor other engineers.

Nice-to-have

  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Shell) to automate flows and verification.
  • UVM and mixed-signal verification methodology experience.
  • Verification experience with ARM or RISC-V subsystems or SoCs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; 10+ years of relevant experience in mixed-signal digital design and successful RTL-to-GDSII product development. (The posting specifies an Electrical Engineering degree and 10+ years of experience.)
