Job Title
Principal Device Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop switching power MOSFETs for 12V–80V applications across the full product cycle: architecture, TCAD simulation, process integration, testing and characterization. Collaborate with process engineers, CAE, and IC design teams to deliver manufacturable, high-performance devices.
Work on next-generation low-voltage power MOSFET products within the Mobility, Infrastructure and IoT Power Business Division.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 7+ years of experience in power semiconductor device engineering.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop high-performance power switching devices and novel device structures for 12V–80V applications.
- Use TCAD simulation to optimize performance, ruggedness, and process sensitivity.
- Define proprietary process flows and identify critical design and variation sensitivities affecting manufacturability.
- Collaborate with fab/process engineers to develop process recipes and design rules.
- Design and execute process and layout experiments to reduce development cycle time.
- Execute test-mask and product-mask layouts with CAE support and define testing requirements.
- Develop characterization methods and analyze measured device/test-structure data to iterate designs.
- Provide engineering support to maintain yield and performance of existing power products.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Expertise in power semiconductor devices, semiconductor device physics, device reliability, or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience with TCAD modeling and simulation and device layout.
- Understanding of switched-mode power applications, including packaging and PCB parasitics and thermal implications.
- Experience working with fab/process integration engineers and developing process-aware designs.
- Experience defining test requirements and performing device characterization.
Nice-to-have:
- Track record of commercially successful power MOSFET developments.
- Direct experience with advanced switching MOSFET structures.
Education Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant field (examples: Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or similar) with 7+ years' experience in power semiconductor device engineering.
