Principal Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Principal-level design verification engineer on the Microsoft Artificial Intelligence Silicon Engineering (AISiE) team within Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE). Responsible for leading verification of complex custom IP and SoC designs used in Microsoft cloud and AI infrastructure. Role is based in Bangalore with a 3 days/week in-office cadence; travel less than 25%.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities include leading verification strategy and execution across IP, subsystem, and SoC scope.

• Own or lead verification of complex flows at the SoC, subsystem, or IP levels.
• Plan verification test strategies and coordinate with architecture and design engineers to define scenarios and test plans.
• Design and implement verification environments, run and debug simulations, and drive quality to signoff.
• Use directed, random-stimulus, and coverage-driven techniques to find bugs and meet coverage goals.
• Improve verification efficiency through methodology and tool innovations.
• Coach and mentor engineers on verification best practices.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and desirable qualifications.

• Must-have: 15+ years of design verification experience with a proven track record delivering complex CPU or SoC IPs.
• Must-have: Experience across multiple product cycles from definition to silicon, including writing test plans, developing tests, debugging failures, and coverage signoff (UVM or C++).
• Must-have: Strong RTL debugging experience (Verilog) and experience with simulation and/or emulation environments.
• Must-have: Scripting experience (Python or Perl).
• Must-have: Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background check and security screening requirements.
• Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with formal property verification.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of high-speed protocols such as DDR/HBM, PCIe, Ethernet.
• Nice-to-have: Experience working on AI/ML SoCs.
