Principal Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical verification strategy and architecture for complex digital and mixed-signal ASIC designs. Serve as an in-house expert who architects verification environments, resolves the most difficult verification problems, and mentors verification teams across multiple projects.
This role collaborates with design teams, product management, customers, and partners to define verification sign-off criteria and to influence verification methodology adoption across the organization.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The position expects substantial prior experience in verification; the posting indicates a typical profile of 10+ years of relevant verification experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for verification strategy, architecture, and leadership for complex mixed-signal designs; drives methodology adoption and external technical engagement.
- Define and own verification strategy and architecture across multiple product lines.
- Architect and deliver sophisticated SystemVerilog/UVM verification environments.
- Develop and pioneer advanced verification methodologies and frameworks.
- Lead resolution of high-impact and complex verification issues; provide advanced debugging across abstractions.
- Establish verification metrics, coverage goals, and quality standards for sign-off.
- Mentor and develop verification engineers; guide methodology adoption and best practices.
- Represent the company in industry forums and with tool vendors and key customers on verification matters.
- Travel as required to support customers, partners, and cross-site collaboration (approximately 10% travel).
Requirements
Core technical skills and capabilities required for immediate contribution.
- Expert-level mastery of SystemVerilog and Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) for architecting verification environments.
- Proven ability to develop comprehensive, coverage-driven verification strategies and drive verification closure.
- Deep expertise in mixed-signal verification principles and practical methodologies for complex designs.
- Advanced debugging skills across multiple design abstractions and simulation domains.
- Track record of developing and implementing innovative verification methodologies.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and influence across organizations, including mentoring engineers and driving methodology adoption.
- Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills for high-impact verification challenges.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading verification teams or major verification initiatives.
- Experience representing an organization in standards or with tool vendors.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (as stated in the posting).
