Principal Design Engineer - Synthesis / LEC / CLP
Cadence Design SystemsJob Title
Principal Design Engineer - Synthesis / LEC / CLP
Role Summary
The Principal Design Engineer will lead synthesis, logical equivalence checking (LEC), and low-power (CLP) sign-off activities for complex ASIC/SoC blocks. This internally facing role focuses on flow methodology, root-cause resolution, and cross-team technical leadership to achieve sign-off and PPA goals.
Experience Level
Senior - 8β12 years of ASIC/SoC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include driving methodology, owning sign-off, and producing technical deliverables.
- Drive methodology improvements and best practices across Synthesis, LEC, CLP, and ECO flows.
- Own end-to-end LEC sign-off for multiple design blocks; debug NEQs and aborts.
- Lead physical synthesis closure on complex blocks, including constraint development and PPA closure.
- Perform CLP sign-off for low-power intent designs: level shifter, retention, isolation, PSO strategy, and supply set/domain conflict resolution.
- Maintain technical documentation, status tracking, and write-ups for active blocks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- 8β12 years hands-on ASIC/SoC design experience with strong expertise in Synthesis (Genus), LEC (Conformal), and Low Power.
- Proven experience with multi-corner, multi-mode sign-off considerations.
- Strong scripting skills (TCL, Python, Perl, or similar).
- Deep understanding of ASIC flow interactions: RTL, synthesis, physical design handoff, and DFT.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable owning technical documentation and cross-team discussions.
- Proven track record of working effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Nice-to-have: experience with physically aware synthesis flows.
Education Requirements
BE/BTech/ME/MS/MTech in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent practical experience.
